We have a clear line of responsibility for EHS management to
ensure policies and standards are adopted by facilities worldwide.
Day-to-day responsibility and accountability for EHS management
rests with the local management of our operating companies. The
new Director, EHS reports to the Director, Human Resources on
EHS strategy, performance and progress against plan. The Director
HR chairs the new Group EHS Committee and reports to the Chief
Executive, who is accountable to the Board for EHS performance.

Smiths Group Board
The Smiths Group Board regularly reviews EHS performance and
briefings are provided for Executive Directors on specific issues
and programmes.
Group EHS Committee
A new Group EHS Committee, reporting to the Board, has been
set up to enhance our divisional focus on EHS performance. With
senior representation from the divisions and corporate EHS expertise,
the Committee meets quarterly to develop policies and standards,
review progress and prepare the Group EHS report.
EHS Advisers
We have a network of some 200 safety advisers and environmental
co-ordinators throughout our operations providing local EHS support
and advice at business and facility level. Further EHS support
is provided by a network of 15 Regional Environmental and EHS
Co-ordinators. |
